Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshop
Teacher Training ©

With Janet Balaskas and Jill Benjoya Miller

This inspirational workshop was originally created by Janet Balaskas and has been taught at the Active Birth Centre for many years.

This is the first time we have offered it as a professional training course.

An Active Birth Workshop is a highly effective and lively way to empower women and their partners to understand birth physiology and the principles of Active Birth.

The practical sessions awaken the instinctive intelligence of the body, engage couples to work together and help partners to understand how to be present and supportive at birth (or not) without being intrusive.

This workshop is popular and transformational and is often the key to mothers and their partners
becoming confident and relaxed, so that they are able to achieve a natural active birth.

The Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshop © can be taught in one full day, or as a series of 2 half days or 3 shorter sessions.

Active Birth Continuation Workshop

One Day

With Janet Balaskas or Jill Benjoya Miller

Before you attend the continuation workshop you need to complete Module 1 - Teaching Active Birth ©.

We have planned the continuation days before the Wise Woman Workshops so you can opt to attend both consecutively.

At the Active Birth Continuation Workshop you will be helped to develop a detailed class plan and asked to demonstrate your teaching skills for assessment before you certify. You will therefore need some time to practice the demonstration techniques you have learnt and prepare for the continuation workshop.

Before attending the continuation day please prepare the following using the techniques you were taught in Module 1:

* Demonstrate the baby's journey through the pelvis using your own teaching aids.
* Demonstrate the comparative benefits of an Active Birth using model pelvis and doll.
* Demonstrate the function of the uterus.
* Prepare a succinct summary of the physiology of the birth process in point form - maximum length 2 sides of an A4. (Recommended reference the free download 'Ecstatic birth' on Dr Sarah Buckley's website.)
* Think about how you are going to present the birth hormones and the phases of the birth process to parents.
* Think about possible ways you would like to plan your workshop and make a few rough notes.
